Ripple Labs (XRP) has applied for a national bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in the United States. According to a report, the company submitted the application on Wednesday and hopes to join the trend of mainstream financial institutions entering the cryptocurrency space. The Wall Street Journal reported.
获得国家信托银行牌照也将使Ripple的RLUSD稳定币纳入OCC的监管范围。如果获得批准，Ripple可能还会考虑通过其银行牌照提供其他加密货币服务。Ripple稳定币高级副总裁杰克·麦克唐纳（Jack McDonald）表示：“这项监管的双重性质，实际上将为稳定币市场的透明度和合规性设定新的标准。”
目前，加密货币托管机构 Anchorage Digital 是美国唯一一家拥有联邦银行执照的数字货币公司。USDC 稳定币发行商 Circle 最近也申请了国家银行执照。虽然 Ripple 的市值远低于这两家公司，但在过去两年中，它在加密货币领域的受欢迎程度呈爆炸式增长，部分原因在于它对美国证券交易委员会 (SEC) 提起的备受瞩目的诉讼。

据《华尔街日报》报道，Ripple 子公司 Standard Custody & Trust Company 周一申请了美联储主账户。如果获得批准，该账户将允许 Ripple 直接在美联储托管储备，并在正常银行营业时间之外发行和赎回稳定币。
Ripple 平台申请美国银行牌照后，其原生加密货币 XRP 于周三上涨。过去 24 小时内，该山寨币上涨了近 4%。
